NINE ways you can support nia
We can’t do what we do without the support of our community. Here are several things you can do to support our mission. It's much easier than you think!
Thanks so much for your interest and please be in touch via our Contact Us page if you have any questions.
1. Get involved
We're glad to keep in touch with you. Subscribe to our email list by clicking here: Email Signup
"Like" our Facebook page and share our photos, events, and links on your own page. To be sure you don't miss anything, after you click "Like" click again and select "Get Notifications." That way, each time we post something you'll be notified at the top of your own page so you can share it.
Be sure to join our Meetup group and join us at any of our events. This is where we schedule ALL of our events and activities.
Subscribe to our Youtube channel and watch for our video releases.
2. BECOME A MEMBER
Membership support is critically important to our work. Not only are you making an investment in the future of Northern Indiana Atheists, you are lending your voice to our cause. Having dues-paying members in our community is how we are able to tackle important state/church violation issues that are brought to our attention and allows us to more effectively represent atheists in our community.
Membership is open to atheists and our allies who share our vision for a government that represents all citizens equally, our passion for serving our community, and our enjoyment of educating people on what it means to be an atheist in Northern Indiana.
3. Gift A Membership
Would you like to pay it forward by funding the membership of people who can’t afford it? We’ve lowered the donation cost of our Ally Membership to $5 in appreciation of your generosity! Buy as many as you like and we’ll either add members from a waiting list or advertise the availability of these gifted memberships on our website and social media. Thank you!
4. MAKE A DONATION
Use our Donation Page to make a tax deductible donation. Northern Indiana Atheists is a federally-recognized tax-exempt 501c3 organization. Your donation will amplify our voices and increase the impact of our actions.
*If you would rather send a check, make it out to NIA and mail it to Northern Indiana Atheists, PO Box 1153, South Bend, IN 46624.
5. COME OUT
Atheists are everywhere, but not enough people realize it. While 20% of Americans are non-religious, the number of non-believers is a bit of a mystery, but what we have in common with nearly everyone else is we know that separation of state and church benefits everyone–even the few who don't agree with us.
It is much easier to ignore a segment of the population if they are hidden from view. So when it comes up in conversation come "out" as long as you can do so safely.
A good way to get more comfortable being "out" is to hang out with other atheists and allies. Whether you want to learn, socialize, donate time or other resources, or just meet some new atheist friends!
6. kroger community rewards
Kroger has a Community Rewards program which donates a portion of every purchase to the charity of your choice. Just go to https://www.kroger.com/account/communityrewards, search for "Northern Indiana Atheists" and click "Enroll". Then just use your Kroger Rewards card every time you shop and you'll be helping to support NIA!
7. BUY OUR MERCH
Visit our Shop and check out our merchandise. New items being added often!
8. Educate yourself
There are plenty of great resources out there you can use to educate yourselves on what constitutes a state/church violation. Our favorite is the Freedom From Religion Foundation's website. NIA has worked with FFRF on a lot of issues and we get great support from them. Their FAQ page regarding state church separation is at ffrf.org.
Report all suspected violations through our Report a State/Church Violation page.
9. BE VIGILANT
Subscribe to your city and county government eNewsletters.
Monitor social media for violations at public schools, school athletics, after school clubs, etc.
Drive by public schools and other facilities.
Walk into your government buildings, which are open to the public.
Attend public meetings of the board, council, commission whenever possible.
When you see something, say something! Let us know by messaging us at our Report a State/Church Violation page.
Thanks again for your interest. If you have an idea for how to help that isn't listed above, just let us know by messaging us at our Send Us a Message page.
